>A large & impressive 18th Cenrury Grand Tour oil painting on canvas, attributed to William Hodges, R.A.  (1744--1797) with a later attached name plate; depicting an Italian fantastical landscape of classical ruins, an Italian Hill Town, a Roman aqueduct and several allegorical figures.  PROVENANCE:   Former property of David Playdell-Bouviere, grandson of the 5th Earl of Radnor, Family Seat at Longford Castle, Wiltshire, England. Married Ava Muriel Astor (only daughter of John Jacob Astor).   Dimensions: 50" W x 37" H.
