A Meiji Period Japanese Satsuma bulbous shape vase or jug with applied gilt elephant motif handles, mounted as a lamp (originally an oil lamp) on a vintage stepped brass base, the vase decorated with dropout cartouches, one of a warrior and a dragon, the other a pastoral figure collecting water, all highlighted with colorful raised brocade enamelwork.
